Creative Bevians
An open "AI-Sober" space for Maintainers, Game Developers, and Community Members of the Bevy Game Engine.
Our Goals
1) Value and Promote Human Learning & Craft
Making and Sharing is at the centre here, supporting human authorship and learning new things.2) Support AI Sobriety
Skill loss can be recovered, with support. The impulse to reach for LLM tools can be worked through. If you want to de-escalate the place AI has in your life, you're welcome here.3) Resist "Inevitability"
Repetition does not create truth, power is what forces technologies on us. Power can be resisted, defeated, with our own persistence.4) No "Purity" of persons or projects
If we demand perfection then every mistake or difference is a crisis. A person or community can change behavior. People are forced to use AI at work. Critical AI Researchers need to know what models do first-hand. A transitive dependency can change policy.5) Remain part of the Bevy Project
This is a home-away-from-home, not a fork, not a separatist movement. We are proud members of the Bevy community, having spent months to years of our lives working on Bevy or projects using Bevy.
What is an "AI-Sober" Space?
Sober Spaces are places where people who have a history with a substance, or are otherwise negatively affected by its ambient presence in society, can spend time knowing they're in a safe and constructive environment for them.
This is one of those spaces, focused on separating the negative social-technical effects of LLM use from people who feel devalued and demotivated by their presence, and for those who like the vibe and want to hang out here.
As a satellite of the Bevy community, of which many of us are active in, we follow the code of conduct of the Bevy project.
